Mel Miskimen, a product of a Polish-Irish-Catholic upbringing, is a lifelong Milwaukee resident. She's made mistakes i.e. ruined perfectly good sweaters, cars and appliances, embarrassed herself at parties -- but, the most important thing is, she's learned from them and she wants to pass her vast array of motherly wisdom on to you!

She's managed to raise two centered, well-balanced, mentally stable children (one in college, one in high school), two obedient dogs (one dead and in a can on the bookcase, one not quite dead and under the dining room table). She is still married to the same man she met at the Up and Under back in 1981. They live in their Milwaukee fixer-upper that they are still fixing after 22 years.

Her advice is meant to be taken as you would from any mother.
